Oh, Oh, Oh, It's Magic: Angels 4, Red Sox 2

The Good Guys won an absolute hell of a game behind Ervin, who blanked the Red Sox through seven in his best outing since the complete game shutout against the Chisox. He only allowed two baserunners through seven innings, retiring the side in order five times. It was his first career day game victory, and one with a big exclamation point on it. You got the impression that Santana was weakening as the game went on; he got all five strikeouts in the first two innings, and gave up both runs -- after he left the game on an RBI single by Edgar Rentaria.

I don't have words enough for his outing. For the first time since I've started paying close attention to the Angels, I really think the Halos have a shot at getting an answer to Rich Harden.

Kotchman must feel immensely frustrated, stranding seven runners and failing to collect even a single hit. He's a little too green to leave in as protection for Vlad just yet.

I used this image before. I'll use it again:

Great outing, kid.
