Surge: Angels 10, Devil Rays 4
Casey Kotchman at least gave Scioscia an option going into Oakland. We know his .200/.360/.650 line is bound to change; we know he could turn back into a pumpkin at any time. But the alternatives? Anderson's got a little six-game hitting streak going, but it's a weak one, with single hits in all but one of those games. Vlad went 7-10 against Baltimore -- and 2-12 against the Devil Rays. Leadoff man Chone Figgins was almost completely kept off the basepaths in the series, 2-14.
It's a worry.
Richard looked in at the musical shortstops, and as we find Eckstein hitting a grand slam for the Cards, we wonder what the fuss was about for Cabrera, and why he was given $32M/4 years. He's not worth half that in both dimensions.
