Two Games

YOU DIE! YOU DIE NOW! Orioles 2, Angels 0

Finley in the lineup, Angels lose.

Is there anything to talk about here? Lackey pitched a goddamn complete game, and the Angels bats couldn't support him? This year, I swear, is the anti-2003: the bullpen is made of crepe paper, the starting rotation is nails, and the offense either can't buy a hit or isn't healthy.

Full Kent Press: Rockies 5, Dodgers 4

My luck with the magic tickets has at last run out; I'm now 6-1, which you have to admit is still a better winning percentage than the Dodgers will finish with this year.

It seemed to me that, with the team's struggles, the public spat with Bradley, and Kent's own mini-slump (2-16 over the last four games), Jeff Kent was swinging for the fences in every at bat tonight, but especially in his last one. The Dodgers managed to knock out Aaron Cook after five innings, having extracted eight hits and two walks, yet only two earned runs. You'd think that would be enough; if the soft underbelly of the Rocks' rotation wasn't enough jet fuel, the bullpen and its 8.xx ERA pitchers should have been. Yet, the Dodgers meekly packed their bats up and slunk into smoggy evening, thence to the showers and the indignity of answering obvious questions.

Regarding tonight's Angels game -- an outstanding pitching performance negated by a complete offensive breakdown? Welcome to the world of an A's fan, Rob.

I hear an echo in the room. Must be time to unpack the furniture...
