Angels Roster Notes
With all the speculation about Bengie Molina being gone at the end of the year, the Mathis callup makes me wonder a bit. I don't think he'll be the offensive powerhouse we were hoping for even as late as two years ago, which means the Angels will have to provide yet another bat. Certainly, it would be convenient if he were ready right now for a starting job in the majors, but I haven't heard anyone say that, and it's likely he'll have to start at Salt Lake for another year. That's a tough decision; if that means Stoneman gives another contract to Molina, it could be painful given the number of years he would likely have to give him. Instead of starting the year minus three bats (one at third, first, and left), the Angels will find themselves minus four bats. This will be an interesting offseason.
