Pirates Can Lloyd McClendon
The Pirates fired manager Lloyd McClendon, one game before they were guaranteed a fifth consecutive losing season. McClendon would have been the first major league manager to accrue five straight losing seasons had he held on. The interim manager is bench coach Pete Mackanin. The Pirates themselves are only one game away from 13 consecutive losing seasons, three shy of the major league record.
