News, news, news...
- Dayn Perry ranks the AFL prospects, and surprise, surprise, the names Wood, Kendrick, and Morales all pop up in his top ten.
- Troy Percival's induction ceremony into the AFL Hall of Fame happened today. I know I'll never forget being in the park for Game 7 of the World Series when Percy closed out the game.
- MILB.com has a list of minor league free agents of interest; the only Angel on the list is Luke Allen.
- Speaking of minor league free agents, Jacksonville Suns free agent Todd Donovan looks to former Dodger Dave Roberts for inspiration:
"I look at a player like Dave Roberts and what he did for the Red Sox last year," said Donovan, who played center field for the Double-A Southern League champion Jacksonville Suns in 2005. "By stealing that base and helping them win the World Series, I think that opened a lot of baseball people's eyes. I think Dave Roberts helped a lot of baseball players out there like myself, who need that foot in the door kind of job."
Donovan, 27, led the minors in stolen bases with 65 while hitting .284 with a .363 OBP.

There's something about the Phoenix/Surprise games that bugs me, though I have no reason for it to; maybe it's the nature of the beast, but the conflict between Dodgers and Angels has never sit well with me, wanting both to do well. Oh, well. Anyway, the Desert Dogs now have the best record in the AFL (18-7), while the Scorpions, who got off to such a hot start, have stalled, dropping their last three and nine of their last eleven, bringing them to below .500 for the first time this season (12-13).
