The Dodgers are "making considerable progress" in their GM search, which of course means that another GM candidate is off the boards, namely Gerry Hunsicker. Hunsicker is expected to sign with Tampa Bay, and how pathetic is it when the Dodgers fall below the Devil Rays as a destination of choice for front office executives? I now wholeheartedly commend Jon's suggestion of Kim Ng, principally because she is the most qualified of candidates not named Jim Bowden. That is, of course, assuming reports about Theo Epstein being contacted (despite the likelihood of his turning up his nose at the Chavez Ravine job) don't lead to anything. If he's serious about working for Hurricane Frank, I suggest he get one of those one-way deals that J.D. Drew negotiated from DePo where the team can't fire him for five years but he can walk after two, as well as some sort of contractual garlic to ward off the vampire Lasorda.Lame Bobbleheads, #1 In A Series

Why the enthusiasim for Ng? Has she ever said or did anything to suggest she'd be a competent gm? I mean, how do we know she wouldn't be the distaff version of Bill Bavasi?
