Baseball America Executive Database

Now this is cool, and fills a need that is bizarrely missing in the pages of Baseball Reference, Baseball Almanac, etc.: a complete historical listing of baseball executives from the start of the time they had the position. For the Dodgers, General Manager starts with Branch Rickey in 1950.

Comments:
Most interesting in the morning baseball news -- Angel-wise, anyway -- was the description of the club's negotiations with Paul Byrd. Described in both the L.A. Times and Riverside Press Enterprise. Sounds to me like they could have inked him to one-year deal if they had acted sooner.

The executive database indicates that Bill Stoneman was the general manager of the Expos in 1987 and 1988. Wasn't aware of that.

It appears Stoneman was an interim general manager, replace in the middle of 1988 by Dave Dombrowski.

I was surprised to learn that Billy Martin was the general manager of the A's in 81 & 82. I knew he was the manager at one time but never knew he also held the title of g.m.
