Roster Notes

Comments:
milton bradley for todd walker? why would we want him? and why all this talk of 2nd basemen? tsk, tsk.

Walker could play LF. He can certainly hit.

just saw a report on espn that the orioles signed ramon hernandez, do you know what's up with javy lopez?

Javy Lopez becomes DH/part-time catcher, I believe.

Kevin Hench of foxsports.com has posted a funny article about our new manager Grady Little, calling him the "lump of coal" in Dodger fans' stockings. He also describes Grady as empty-faced, slack-jawed, and dull-eyed. Yikes.

It would appear the Angels are taking one step backwards this coming year, going with the kids instead of investing big in Manny Ramirez or some other proven slugger. Probably a sound strategy for the long haul.

Let's see...the BoSox have traded their top SS prospect in Hanley Ramirez...and their starting SS in Renteria. The Angels are up to their ears in shorstops. The Angels just saved several million dollars by terminating their relationship with Bengie-Mo. And the Red Sox just saved about $8 million (approximately the same amount that Erstad and Finley make).

Verrrrrrrrrry eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenteresting.

Of course, Julio Lugo is another possible SS target for Boston, but still.

Bill Lajoie, Boston's most visible remaining baseball man, was quoted today saying that the the team was likely to solve its shortstop dilmena via free agnecy.

When Stoneman signed Vlad, Bart, Kelvim & Guillen, he and Arte said the four were to be a "bridge" between the 2002 championship team and the point in time the farm system was ready to produce major league players. I doubt Stoneman is going to empty his farm system, jack up his payroll, and upset his "master plan" to acquire Manny at this point in time. He strikes me as a very cautious, deliberate g.m.

Just read that Miguel Tejada wants to be traded. How 'bout O-Cab and a lesser prospect or two for Miggie, who could be the righthanded stick we need?

It would take a heck of a lot more than O-Cab and "a lesser prospect or two" to land Tejada, a legitimate MVP-caliber player. It would probably cost Brandon Wood.

Bill Lajoie says that the Red Sox will fill their SS hole via free agency? Who? Aurilia? Royce Clayton? The other Alex Gonzalez? Or....Nomar?
