Angels Set Minor League Staff

The Angels named their 2006 minor league staff. Many of the 2005 group are returning, including Tom Kotchman, who will manage the Orem Owlz once again. Perhaps the most interesting change is former Angels outfielder Eric Owens, who will be the team's hitting coach at Cedar Rapids. Keith Comstock replaced Mike Butcher as the roving pitching instructor; Butcher joined the Devil Rays as their major league pitching coach. A bunch more at the article, most of which won't especially matter, but it is kinda funny to see Owens, who couldn't hit a lick for the Angels in a major league uniform, trying to teach others how to do it.

Comments:
A guy with a career .665 OPS as hitting coach ... curiouser and curiouser.

Walt Hriniak and Charlie Lau couldn't hit either.

Sometimes people know how to hit, they just lack the physical tools to do it. We'll have to see if Owens is one of them.

Those who cannot do, TEACH.
