Roster Notes
- Newsday claims Scott Boras client Jeff Weaver has resumed talks with the Angels.
Update: MLB.com quotes Ned Colletti as saying that a re-signing of Weaver is a "long shot". In that same story, Colletti also suggests Edwin Jackson may move to long relief.
- In that same article, the Dodgers will trade Duaner Sanchez for starter Jae Seo, who would fill the fifth starter slot in the rotation.
Update: AP via ESPN says the deal is done, with garbage-time lefty Tim Hamulack thrown in to the Dodgers, and Steve Schmoll going the other way to the Mets.
- The Blue Jays aren't that interested in Bengie Molina, according to the Toronto Star. It's looking increasingly likely that he'll have to take a one-year deal elsewhere.
- The Padres are near to a deal for lefty Shawn Estes.
- Jose Lima says he's signed a one-year, $1.7M deal with the Padres.
- Mammas, Don't Let Yer Babies Grow Up To Pitch Righty: Gonna-be-43-year-old Terry Mulholland, the former Dodger who hasn't posted a sub-4.00 ERA with a single team since his 2001 stint with the Pirates, will get a job again, this time in a minor league deal with the Diamondbacks.
- The Padres re-signed Dewon Brazelton to a one-year, $550,000 deal.
- Former Giant and Angel J.T. Snow will likely sign with Boston.
- According to Rotoworld, K-Rod is starting, not closing, for La Guiara in the DWL. Hmm, wonder what the Angels would have to say about that?
- The Japan Times says that the Mariners are considering Kaz Ishii, though he is also thinking about returning to Japan.
- Update: The Denver Post reports that Rockies' GM Dan O'Dowd still "has strong interest in former Los Angeles Angels reserve outfielder Jeff DaVanon" but "the Rockies might not be able to afford him." That would be pretty funny considering last week's rumor about his shoulder being "shot".
- Update 2: I guess I forgot to mention that former Dodger and Giant Marquis Grissom got a minor league deal with the Cubs that included an invitation to spring training. Grip's a good guy, but I think his time is done; he'll be 39 next year, and hamstring problems at that age just don't go away.
