Snarky, Snark, Snark: Haloblog On The Recent Halosphere Contraction
Speaking of things you should read, Stephen Smith is wrapping things up at Future Angels. For those of you that haven't gone to Stephen's site, it is a collection of pictures, video, and information about all things related to Angels' minor league baseball. Essentially, Stephen has spent the better part of the last ten or so years following Angel minor league players and teams, capturing games on video, amassing an impressive collection of still photographs, and opining about Angel baseball at every level. There is no shortage of interesting information at Stephen's site. That's the good news. The bad news is that Stephen is closing the site as of January 1. You really should go visit the site before it closes, and perhaps even consider contributing to his endeavor, be it by donating some ching or by buying some of his photos. Considering that Stephen's worked tirelessly, for free, on that site, for longer than any of us have been blogging about the Angels, it's a shame that real world pressures are forcing the site's closure."Daryl" dropped me a line a few days ago saying he'd just about gotten over the grudge of my having -- horreurs! -- actual Dodger content on my site, and thanking me for linking back to them. Well, you're welcome, guys; Haloblog's writing has always been top-notch, and no offense anyone, but they might just be the best pure writers in the Angels blogosphere out there these days. Now if they could find a way to publish an actual blog, you know, with article permalinks and the like, folks might maybe start actually linking to them more often. That being said, Stephen's heavy-handed analysis of the current state of the internet, and Angel fandom in general, are not necessarily his strengths. Whether he believes so or not, Mickey Hatcher is a fuckwad and someone needs to remind you of that. Apparently, were it up to Stephen, we'd all blog glowingly about the Angels' organization and Angel blogging would be one big, happy, circle-jerk. Sorry, Stephen, but a bunch of hot air blown up the asses of Angel fans would be about as interesting as, well, sitting through games out at Rancho Cucamonga for example. Stephen likes our museum, he's written to us in the past about it, but, apparently, he likes little else. Still, his site was interesting, it was unique, and it will be missed. Good luck Stephen, and we hope you can find a way to quit that pesky day job someday.
