D'Backs Send Alex Cintron To The Chisox
Could it be that the Diamondbacks have concluded that Stephen Drew is ready for the Show?
Update: Craig M. in the comments -- and I wish I could figure out what happened here, because I posted about this earlier in the day in the comments, too, and it seems to have been eaten -- recalls that former Dodger Craig Counsell was working out at shortstop earlier in the offseason. Rotoworld confirms this memory; the only trouble is, Counsell has an injured shoulder that he refused surgery on, leading us to think the Snakes are indeed going to be giving Stephen Drew a long look in ST. The only problem with this theory is that Drew has only four spring training at bats.
Cintron's trade wasn't so much a vote of confidence in Drew as it was the D-Backs trading one of their eight million middle infielders (and one of the more expensive ones) for yet another middling relief pitcher.
Drew will end the season as the starting SS, but not start it.
