New Angels History: Once They Were Angels

G Abbes clues me in to a new history of the Angels, Once They Were Angels, by Robert Goldman. Goldman served as the team's batboy; the book seems to be largely a series of interviews of former players, including Bo Belinsky, Jim Fregosi, Nolan Ryan, and Scott Spiezio, as well as Times sportswriter emeritus Ross Newhan. Normally I don't care about the vast majority of books that come across my desk, but I've thought that Ross Newhan's now-dated complete history of the Angels could stand some updating, especially considering the uptick in the team's fortunes. I'll have to get a copy and let you know how it comes out -- maybe this one advances to the top of my unread pile.

Did you read this yet? Thoughts?

In the middle but excellent so far.
