You Wouldn't Like To See Him Angry
"I create scenarios in my head," he said after hitting a home run and a double in the A's 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. "That's the way it is. That's what drives me. When I'm too nice, I'm not a good ballplayer. I have to get rowdy and take it out on the baseball.""I'll have to ask him what I can do to make him mad," manager Ken Macha said. Maybe he doesn't know about the bottle-throwing episode, but for all I know, Bradley will never get close enough to the fans in the cavernous Coliseum for it to be a problem....
"The only thing people knew about me was that I got angry, so the only thing they knew how to do was anger me," he said. "All those things, all those people, it doesn't work any more. I'm always thinking ahead of everybody."
Update: He still has a grudge against Dodgers team physicians, though:
But Bradley apparently still holds a grudge against certain members of the organization, from Kent to team physicians.Nothing like not taking the advice of your doctor, eh?“I’m not supposed to be running,” said Bradley, who missed 85 games last season with injuries. “I’m not supposed to be swinging the bat, changing direction, jumping.”
Bradley related a story about the day he went to Dodger Stadium to clean out his locker after the season: He was infuriated when somebody in the team offices seemed to compare him to former Chicago Bulls guard Jay Williams, who still hasn’t fully recovered from a motorcycle accident that occurred nearly three years ago.Whatever keeps you motivated -- er, angry, Milton.“I left that day knowing the first day of spring training, I would be on the field,” Bradley said.
