The Most Awfulest Day Of The Year
Some people hate Christmas; one gal I know found out her father was cheating on the day, and never celebrated it again. Me, I hate the day we transition to Daylight Savings, seeing as how it clobbers an hour of my sleep. But I suppose it could be worse: Indiana had broken down DST observance by county, but just last year the state legislature decided to join the rest of the country in the first-week-in-April ritual annoyance the rest of us have had to suffer through for years. As if all that weren't enough, across the border in Illinois, the Chisox and Cleveland Indians are locked in a 3-3 tie (er, make that a 6-3 lead for Chicago) in the White Sox' home opener -- and it's only the fourth inning and 11:30 CDT. I don't care how rabid a White Sox fan I am, I'm at home.BTB Dodgers Pitching Preview
Marc Normandin asked me to write a pitching preview of the 2006 Dodgers. Well, there it is.Roster Notes
- The Rockies disabled Byung-Hyun Kim and Yorvit Torrealba.
- Former Dodger catching prospect Koyie Hill has been designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks.
- The Brewers have signed former Angel Derrick Turnbow to a three-year, $6.5M contract.
- The Giants have signed starter Noah Lowry to a 4-year/$9.25M contract.
Comments:
Arizona doesn't observe daylight savings time. you'd think that'd make it easy on us, right? WRONG! you wouldn't believe what a hassle it is here when DST hits even though we don't observe it. for one, i work for a large corporation and we have phone meetings with sites in other states, so when the clocks change for instance, they all keep a meeting at 3pm at the same time, but here, a 3 pm meeting here is now an hour later which throws the local schedules into chaos. then shows like ESPN Sportscenter now start an hour earlier.
actually though i like not being on DST - we are now on California time instead of being an hour later. so ANgel home games start here at 7pm, not 8pm. and the whole reason we aren't on DST is: why in the world would we want an extra hour of daylight on summer afternoons in the desert when its too hot to do anything anyways? NOT!
as for back on topic, i caught of few pics of Turnbow Thursday which Rob posted here - did you catch his new hairdo? man i don't remember him having long hair as a Halo, or is the supernatural hair growth a result of getting off the juice?
