Register Survey: Fans Dislike The LAAoA Name
An Orange County Register survey finds that- 75% of respondants prefer the Anaheim Angels name rather than the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim name.
- Another 75% think the city of Anaheim wasted taxpayer dollars by taking the Angels to court.
- Only 3% of those polled think a city name is a good reason to support a sports team.
Steve Bischeff's Prediction
The Angels may be a better team, but the Dodgers will win their weak division, according to Steve Bischeff. Too bad the Dodgers' year is starting similarly to last year: with Eric Gagné marginal, and two outfielders (Jayson Werth and Kenny Lofton) on the DL. With this old, fragile lineup, it's all too easy to imagine Nomar Garciaparra and J.D. Drew adding to that list in a couple months. Nonetheless, the current Vegas odds reflect his thinking, making the A's and Dodgers the favorites to win their respective divisions.Tim Salmon, Short Timer
Quote, unquote:"I've got a new lease on life but I don't foresee playing (past this season). ... I'm just trying to get through today and then get through the season," Salmon said. "I want to help this team win. If I could walk out with a championship, wow, how great would that be?"
