Roster Notes
- The Angels announced their 25-man roster; the big announcements are that Tim Salmon and Maicer Izturis made the team as reserves, and Esteban Yan made the bullpen. Dallas McPherson was demoted to Salt Lake.
- Update: Besides McPherson -- who took the news stoically -- the Angels sent down INF Brian Specht, OF Curtis Pride, RHP Kevin Gregg, RHP Jered Weaver, last night's Fred Haney Award (for best rookie in camp) winner INF Kendry Morales, catcher Mike Napoli, and RHP Scott Dunn, the latter being DFA'd. (Note that despite the Press-Enterprise article, Morales' line in spring training was .333/.354/.619.)
- Kenny Lofton has been disabled, placed on the 15-day DL.
- The Dodgers have optioned Russell Martin and Oscar Robles to AAA Las Vegas. Aaron Sele was sent down to the AAA club as well, accepting the assignment for now, but it's unknown what he'll do if he gets an offer from another club, or if Colletti and Sele can work out the details.
- Sandy Alomar, Jr. will start on opening day at catcher. He is likely to be designated Odalis Perez's personal caddy and should catch about 20% of the games.
- Jose Cruz, Jr. and Rafael Furcal are both expected to start on Monday.
- The Rangers traded David Dellucci to the Phillies for RHP Robinson Tejeda and outfielder Jake Blalock.
- Adam Eaton has elected to have surgery on his finger, and will be out no less than 12 weeks.
- The Red Sox have disabled former Padre David Wells and Hee Seop Choi. Wells is recovering from offseason knee surgery; Choi has a strained hamstring.
- Giants closer Armando Benitez has also been disabled from continued problems with knee bursitis.
