Angels Release Edgardo Alfonzo

The Angels released Edgardo Alfonzo, calling up reliever Jason Bulger to replace him on the 25-man roster.

About time.

Update: Now on MLB.com, and it seems Alfinley was pretty gracious about it:

"They've been good to me," Alfonzo said of the Angels. "They gave me this opportunity to find a team. I appreciate the opportunity to find a team that would like to have me."

...

"Hopefully, everything will work out the best for me," Alfonzo said. "I get to go home, relax and see what happens."

Comments:
Now he gets to collect all of his money without working.

Alternatively, he can sign a minimum contract with someone else, still get his huge salary, and get the play time he desired.

This really is win-win for him.

It's a win if he only cares about the money for this season. The problem is he can't hit worth a damn any more. Next year he'll be playing cheap or not playing at all.
