Pickoff Moves
Today's Birthdays
Nobody of import —Seitz Gives Up
Crybaby. Of course, I say that now; I may be following him if it gets to 5-27. But I don't think so.Team Meetings Are For Losers
Will it help the Dodgers bullpen? Not unless talk can get Gagné's elbow back sooner. Olmedo Saenz had a recommendation that's sure to get play on Dodger Blues:"We just have to flush this one," he said. The Angels have fallen under a similar spell, i.e., the notion that holding a meeting will somehow fix Darin Erstad's bat. Nobody's using the "P" word:
Stoneman was asked if it is too early to panic or if he would be all in favor of panic at this point to change the team's fortunes."You evaluate every day," he said. "I don't want to use the word panic. We don't panic when we discuss things we can do and might do. There is no mood of panic at all from anybody. You always evaluate things. If you can help your club by doing something, you do it if it's something available to you.
Roster Notes
- Robb Quinlan's elbow came up negative when x-rayed after getting hit by a Chad Gaudin pitch on Tuesday.
- Ricky Ledee will not require surgery according to Frank Jobe, but as Will Carroll said yesterday, "Ricky Ledee's leg injuries are quickly sapping his ability to contribute."
And with that, I'm off. We'll be in Arkansas for the next few days, catching a couple Travs games as weather permits — which, it may not.
