Minor League Scorebook

2006-06-08: Salt Lake 4, Tucson 5 #
Willits, R: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Izturis: 0-3
Erstad: 1-5
Kendrick, H: 3-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI
Gorneault: 1-2, 2 BB
Mathis, J: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Eylward: 0-3
Moseley: 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 2.89 ERA
Rouwenhorst: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 5.23 ERA
Jones: (BS, 7)(L, 2-4) (in relief), 0.2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 4.80 ERA
Howie Kendrick is hitting .402 after this game, so I'm not sure what else he could possibly do to earn a spot on the 25-man roster; maybe a PCL All-Star appearance would help. His .396 average was second in the minors and first in the PCL, but maybe that's changed today.

Dustin Moseley pitched a pretty good game, getting a quality start despite throwing a pair of pickoff tosses away; one of those tosses, against J.D.'s brother Stephen Drew, ended up scoring. Greg Jones blew the save and got the deserved loss.

Update: I should note in passing that the man who hit the walkoff sacrifice fly was none other than former Angels farmhand Alberto Callaspo. Oh, irony.

2006-06-08: Arkansas 2, Tulsa 4 #
Wood: 1-3, 1 BB
Wilson: 1-4
Aspito: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Smith, J: (L, 3-7), 8.0 IP, 2 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 4.56 ERA
I'm generally against slagging managers, but c'mon, Ty, Dwaine Bacon has no business hitting leadoff if he's only got a .213 average. Not even a .281 OBP can rescue that move. Brandon Wood got on base twice, and Jason Aspito had a two-run homer, but Marc Kaiser and Manuel Corpas four-hit the Travs, ending a little four-game win streak. Jesse Smith pitched a complete game with two runs, but surrendered two more unearned runs, one of which was on a blown throw from Brandon Wood.
2006-06-08: Rancho Cucamonga 1, Visalia 2 #
Leblanc: 2-4, 1 2B
Collins: 1-2, 1 K
Toussaint: 1-4, 1 K
Lopez: 0-4, 2 K
Rodriguez, S: 0-1, 1 K
Posey: (L, 2-6), 7.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 5 BB, 4.19 ERA
Micah Posey gave up both runs, one unearned. James Houser, Jr. struck out nine Quakes over seven innings.
2006-06-08: Cedar Rapids 3, Quad Cities 7 #
Statia: 1-4
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 BB
Martinez: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 K
Hill: (L, 1-2), 7.0 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 3 HR, 2.84 ERA
2006-06-08: AZL Angels did not play
2006-06-08: Orem did not play
2006-06-08: Tacoma 18, Las Vegas 8 #
Izturis: 1-3, 2 BB
Loney: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 K
Young, D: 0-5
Garcia: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Robles: 2-5, 3 RBI
Bellorin, E: 3-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI
Reid: (L, 1-3), 2.1 IP, 7 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 8.07 ERA
Hull: 2.0 IP, 7 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 3 BB, 3.86 ERA
Miller: 1.2 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Hamulack: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Osoria: 1.0 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 6.97 ERA
Man, what a shock it was to see the 51's on the other end of a beatdown like this. Tacoma scored ten in the third inning off Justin Reid, sending fourteen men to the plate in the process. The former Pirate farmhand pretty clearly looks like organizational filler after this performance, his first start for the 51's this year. Judging by the results, it might be his last. Franquelis Osoria continues to beg for a demotion to Jacksonville. Tim Hamulack made his first appearance, and neither he nor Greg Miller gave up any runs in 2.0 and 1.2 innings respectively.
2006-06-08: Huntsville 7, Jacksonville 10 #
Hu: 2-4, 1 RBI
Abreu: 2-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Ruggiano, J: 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Raglani: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Ojeda: (W, 3-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.68 ERA
Alvarez, C: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 4.05 ERA
Jacksonville just keeps tearing through other clubs; Danny Muegge gave up all seven earned runs but the bullpen and some prodigious offense got him off the hook for his lousy performance.
2006-06-08: Vero Beach 7, Palm Beach 10 #
Paul, X: 2-4, 1 K
Denker, T: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Dewitt: 1-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 3 K
Bruce: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Dunlap: 1-5, 1 RBI, 3 K
Todd: 1-2, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Hoffmann: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Johnson, B: 5.0 IP, 7 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 4 BB, 4.20 ERA
Leach: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 2.2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 0.00 ERA
Scoring six runs in the first two frames, Vero chased Palm Beach starter Nick Webber along the way — and then the Dodgers entered the bottom of the second. Blake Johnson lost it, giving up four; by the fourth, the Cards would have the lead. By the end of the sixth, they wouldn't look back.
2006-06-08: Savannah 3, Columbus 1 #
De Jesus: 0-3, 1 BB
Pedroza: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Mooneyham: 1-2, 2 BB
Harper: 3-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
McDonald: (L, 1-4), 7.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 8 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 3.83 ERA
A Sergio Pedroza error allowed a pair of runs to score, the difference in the game.
2006-06-08: GCL Dodgers did not play
2006-06-08: Ogden did not play
