Minor League Scorebook
News
Oh, this is so perfect, I just can't resist, even though it's not about either team's minor leagues. The Lake Elsinore Storm, the high-A affiliate of the Padres, is having a bobble couch giveaway in honor of Tom Cruise and his couch jumping escapades. In addition, they're having a "Silent Inning" in honor of Cruise's baby Suri, born in the silent manner, and no music will be played, no batters announced, and the fans encouraged to be silent as well. Sadly, they're having a Scientology booth at the game, but that only makes me wish they could add a clambake, with free e-meter giveaways.Scores

Jeff Heaverlo heaved 'em over the plate and gave up a trio of home runs, yet managed to get a win because of an even worse performance by Matt Kinney. Nick Gorneault homered twice, and Reggie Willits, Howie Kendrick, and Curtis Pride all homered once each. Howie Kendrick got right back on the horse again after his 0-fer game yesterday, and had himself another multihit game.

The worst game of the year for the Travs. Dan Davidson continues his plummet out of the league against a lineup Travelerocity says "looks like an all-star team" thanks to six Texas League All-Stars. Reports are that the fans are turning on the Travs these days thanks to games like this one. Player development can sure be ugly sometimes, and it doesn't get much uglier than this.

And, oh, yes, new recruit Adam Greenberg is hitting .400/.471/.667 after six games with the Suns, and has himself a little four-game hitting streak, including the homer he popped off today, his first all season long.
Update: At risk of inflaming the gripes about my Angels bias, Greenberg is a guy the Angels should have nabbed. At worst he becomes outfield depth at Salt Lake, and at best he might be another fourth outfielder type. Not that the Angels have any shortage of that sort of thing, but the more, the merrier.
