More Roster Notes
- The Dodgers received Ben Kozlowski (2006 stats, but you won't want to look — after all, he's a Reds reliever) as the PTBNL in the Cody Ross trade. Ross is no longer in the Reds' organization, having been traded to Florida.
Update: Rotoworld:
Kozlowski was claimed off waivers from the Rangers after the 2004 season, only to be dropped from the Reds' 40-man roster last November. The 25-year-old was regarded as a very good prospect before undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2003. He hasn't been the same since, but a future as a reliever can't be ruled out. The Dodgers will assign him to Double- or Triple-A.
- Bartolo Colon pitched four scoreless innings in today's rehab game, but c'mon, it was only high-A.
- So much for the AL Central being interesting: Tigers starter Mike Maroth will have surgery Friday to remove bone chips from his elbow.
- Lucky for the Tigers, then, that current opponent New York has been beset by a sudden hail of injuries: Jorge Posada will miss some games because of his torn hamstring, Gary Sheffield will hit the 15-day DL, Mariano Rivera is a scratch for tonight's game with back spasms, and Derek Jeter is out with a sore palm. Oh, there's a joke there.
- Back in the AL West, Mark Ellis is back on the DL; Oakland called up Jeremy Brown from AAA Sacramento.
- Division-leading Texas has called up John Wasdin from AAA Oklahoma, sending C.J. Wilson back down.
