Minor League Scorebook

2006-07-19: Salt Lake 7, Fresno 6 #
Pride: 2-5, 1 BB, 1 K
Smith, C: 2-4
Aybar: 3-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB
McPherson: 1-6, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 5 K
Eylward: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 BB
Mathis, J: 4-6, 2 2B, 2 RBI
Pavkovich: 2-4, 2 BB, 2 K
Bootcheck: (W, 4-2) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 6.61 ERA
Dallas McPherson had himself a platinum sombrero, and his line sure looked like he was lost at the plate. Grizzlies starter Nick Pereira is at best a fringy prospect at 25 in AAA, but he struck out six Bees over five innings and 90 pitches, and three other relievers struck out another six. In other words, McPherson provided nearly half the opposition's strikeouts all by himself, and facing dubious competition to boot. Fortunately, Jeff Mathis had two doubles in a 4-6 night, including the game winning RBI in the top of the 10th. Jeff Heaverlo got a blown save when he gave up an earned run in the seventh.
2006-07-19: Arkansas 6, Tulsa 3 #
Wood: 0-4, 2 K
Evans: 1-4, 1 K
Rodland: 1-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Green: (W, 5-1), 8.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 4.53 ERA
Zimmermann: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 6.04 ERA
Somebody pointed out that Terry Evans has yet to walk as a Trav. However, he has struck out 15 times in 48 at bats. Nick Green notched his third win in his last four starts, and his sixth quality start in nine starts for the Travs. So, good news for him, and the Travs.

Bob Zimmermann might have a ghost of a chance at being something useful; since a string of awful outings from April 17 through April 22 in which he gave up nine earned runs over three innings, he's had a 4.22 ERA over 21.1 IP, walking 10 and striking out an equal number, while giving up 21 hits. It's hardly impressive, but it's a start.

2006-07-19: Stockton 13, Rancho Cucamonga 7 #
Sutton: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Rodriguez, S: 3-5, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 K
Collins: 0-5, 2 K
Fuller: 3-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Toussaint: 2-4
Gelinas: (L, 1-4), 3.0 IP, 7 R, 7 ER, 11 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 6.75 ERA
Pullin: 1.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 7.42 ERA
Torres: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 7.02 ERA
Wow what a monster night for Sean Rodriguez, who was a single away from the cycle; his five RBIs included a three-run jack and a two-run double with men on second and third. But the pitching was awful, as neither starter got into the fourth. Starter Dallas Braden, just called up from the AZL, got shelled in his fourth Cal League game, to the tune of six earned runs. Karl Gelinas gave up seven, Micah Posey four, and Aaron Pullin two more including a homer. Cody Fuller homered in the loss, as did Nate Sutton.
2006-07-19: Cedar Rapids did not play
2006-07-19: Orem 4, Missoula 5 #

O'Day: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 0.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 2.70 ERA
A nice game for P.J. Phillips, spoiled for the Kernels by Darren O'Day giving up in succession a double to Tyler Jones and a walkoff RBI single to Matthew Oxendine in the bottom of the 10th.
2006-07-19: AZL Angels did not play
2006-07-19: Las Vegas 6, Tacoma 1 #
Repko: 2-5, 1 K
Loney: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB
Kemp: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Guzman, J: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K

Robles: 2-4, 1 K
Stults: (W, 6-8), 9.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 4.59 ERA
Eric Stults surprisingly went all the way in a four-hit, one-run victory over Tacoma. Las Vegas scored all their runs in the six-run eighth, in which 11 51's came to the plate. James Loney DH'd and Joel Guzman played first. Jason Repko was 2-5 in a rehab assignment.

Craig Brazell hit a grand slam in the seven-run second inning and Heath Totten posted six scoreless innings in this romp over the Lookouts.
2006-07-19: Vero Beach 2, Sarasota 6 #
Paul, X: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Dewitt: 0-5, 1 K
Bruce: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Dunlap: 0-4, 1 K
Nicholson: 1-2, 2 BB
Hoffmann: 1-4, 2 K
Thomas: (L, 2-3), 6.0 IP, 3 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 4 BB, 2.90 ERA
Pimentel: 1.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 5.60 ERA
Not even as close as it looked, for the Dodgers didn't score any runs until the top of the ninth, when Reds reliever Abe Woody gave up a pair of runs. The Dodgers were one-hit through six by Sarasota starter Sam Lecure.
2006-07-19: Columbus 6, Asheville 3 #
De Jesus: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K

Troncoso: (BS, 3)(W, 3-0) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1.61 ERA
Columbus won this extra-innings game with a three-run rally in the top of the 11th with a two-out, bases-clearing double by Travis Denker. Anthony Harper homered, singled, and walked.
2006-07-19: Ogden 3, Helena 10 #
Rivera, M: 2-5, 1 K
Rivera, J: 1-5
Berezay: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Taloa: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Van Slyke: 0-2, 2 BB
Dasni: (L, 2-3), 4.0 IP, 5 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 6.11 ERA
Chales Dasni gave up five runs, three earned as the Brewers pounded on Ogden. Matt Berezay and Rick Taloa homered in the loss, which included two unearned runs thanks to a throwing error by Jesus Soto. Reliever Kalen Gearhart looked stripped as he gave up five runs, including two two-run homers, over only two innings.
2006-07-19: GCL Mets 8, GCL Dodgers 10 #
Mattingly: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
Ortiz: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Lopez: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Garcia: 1-3, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 2 K
Herrera: 0-2, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Paris: 0.2 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 3 BB, 3.66 ERA
Tripp: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 12.27 ERA
Quintana: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 3.18 ERA
The Mets had amassed an 8-0 lead going into the sixth, as I finally get to talk about the crimes of (starter Gary) Paris without irony; he gave up four earned runs while only making two outs. Kengshill Pujols compounded the problem by giving up an additional four runs, starting with a bases-loaded walk in the first, a solo homer in the second, and a two-run double in the fourth.

The Dodgers staged a rally of their own in the bottom of the sixth that started with a Jovanny Rosario walk and a single by Francisco Lizarraga. A walk loaded the bases again, and then the Mets brought in Alexis Beras, who walked two consecutive batters to score two more runs, and then wild pitched another one home. A Trayvon Robinson RBI single brought in two more. In the seventh, two more wild pitches by Mets reliever John Holdzkom helped the Dodgers to a three-run inning, putting them up 9-8; an insurance run in the eighth marked the end of the Dodgers' offense.
