Minor League Scorebook
News
- Bryan Smith has a few words to say about short-season prospects:
Clayton Kershaw ... the first high school pitcher [taken in the 2006 draft] should dominate the Gulf Coast League. ... Sean O'Sullivan ... the year's top draft-and-follow is making another Angels investment look good.
...
Ryan Mount has been fantastic in ... the Pioneer League, and his presence up the middle makes him a better prospect. And the Angels drafted Trevor Bell before Mount, and Bell is near the league's top ERA mark.
- For those with subscriptions, Tony Jackson in Baseball America writes about the early successes of the Dodgers farm system.
- Minor league movement courtesy of Mike Emeigh:
- In addition to sending Jason Repko to the Dodgers (on rehab), Las Vegas forwarded Brett Tomko (also on rehab), and recalled Greg Miller from the DL.
- Salt Lake: Dallas McPherson was sent to the Angels, but remains on the DL.
- Also of interest: the Rockies released former Dodger LHP Mike Venafro from AAA Colorado Springs.
- Jacksonville: sent P Wesley Wright to Vero Beach following the LaMura trade.

Amazing: Kendry can hit at this level. So can Tommy Murphy and Jeff Mathis, and Mathis uncorked a two-run dinger, too. Kasey Olenberger somehow went seven innings without giving up a run, and hoo-ray.
