Kendry Morales homered twice and drove in five while Dustin Moseley threw a complete game. Jason Aspito also homered, a solo shot. This was Moseley's third complete game, making him second in the league behind Jared Fernandez of Nashville; his other two complete games were nine innings long.
2006-08-03: Albuquerque 10, Salt Lake 2 #

Murphy: 1-3
Morales: 1-3
Mathis, J: 1-2, 1 BB

Rouwenhorst: (L, 5-6), 4.0 IP, 3 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 4.57 ERA
Starter Jonathan Rouwenhorst didn't get into the fifth as the Isotopes melted down the Bees. Chris Aguila hit a grand slam off Chris Bootcheck, part of a five-run sixth.
2006-08-03: Springfield 3, Arkansas 5 #
Wood: 0-4, 1 K
Evans: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Del Chiaro: 2-4, 1 K

Zimmermann: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 5.11 ERA
A fantastic game for Nick Green, who surrendered only a single earned run; Matt Brown's fielding error in the second allowed Jarrett Hoffpauir to reach, and Reid Gorecki thek homered. Terry Evans homered in the victory; he's homered in three of his last five games.
2006-08-03: Rancho Cucamonga 5, Modesto 2 #
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Reilly: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Johnson: 2-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Duff: 0-3, 2 BB, 3 K

Posey: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 5.45 ERA
Jepsen: (BS, 5)(W, 4-2) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3.43 ERA
When a game with this big a run differential goes to ten innings, you know something screwy had to be going on. Modesto tied it in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single from Duke Sardinha, but Rancho came back with a Ben Johnson double, a Tim Duff walk, and a Josh Leblanc double that scored them both. Leblanc then stole third, and Nate Sutton executed a squeeze to get him in, in true Angels form.

Update: and yes, a kick-ass game for Nick Adenhart.

2006-08-03: Cedar Rapids 3, Peoria 7 #
Statia: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 RBI

Mosebach: (L, 8-6), 7.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 9 H, 8 K, 0 BB, 3.07 ERA
Bobby Mosebach had a good, not great, game; like the strikeouts, like the zero walks, not so much on the runs, but it's solid. Cedar Rapids wasn't able to support him.

Holler: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 3.32 ERA
Aping Chone Figgins, leadoff man Ryan Mount failed to collect a single hit in six tries, and struck out three times. Tyler Johnson homered, and Sean O'Sullivan had a solid if maybe a little short outing.

Wilson: 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 3.38 ERA
Six Reds drove in one or more runs in a romp over the Dodgers. Blake DeWitt homered in the loss.
2006-08-03: Columbus 6, West Virginia 16 #
De Jesus: 0-3, 1 K
Rivera, J: 1-2, 1 K
Mooneyham: 0-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB

Another blowout. West Virginia scored six in the first and ten in the fourth; David Pfeiffer walked four in the innings, including two consecutive with the bases loaded and two out, followed by a triple to Mat Gamel.
2006-08-03: Ogden 4, Idaho Falls 2 #
Wall: (W, 3-2), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 3.89 ERA
2006-08-03: GCL Dodgers 2, GCL Marlins 1 #
Schwab: 3-6, 1 K
Mattingly: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
Mathews: 2-4, 1 BB
Rosario: 2-4
Robinson: 2-5
Kershaw: 6.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 11 K, 0 BB, 1.00 ERA
Diaz: (W, 3-1) (in relief), 6.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 1.21 ERA
A jaw-dropping number of strikeouts for Clayton Kershaw, who just dominated the Marlins. Wilfredo Diaz pitched a half game by himself, tossing all zeros. All the runs on both sides were unearned thanks to two errors on both sides; Marlins pitcher Yanery Vasquez misplayed a Jovanny Rosario sac bunt, allowing Rosario to reach and prolonging the inning, and eventually allowing Elian Herrera to score Brian Mathews on an RBI single in the top of the 12th.

No props for Adenhart's 10 Ks?

Adenhart LIVES!!!!!

But seriously. It's worth noting: that HR from Terry Evans was his THIRTIETH on the season, and that RBI was his NINTIETH.

Did we get something for Weaver after all? It's hard for me to forgive the shortsighted throwaway of Callaspo in the offseason (he would've had Aybar's value at the trade deadline), but Evans intermittently surprises.

Rob, i think you missed linking up to BA'sa AA tools list - the remarkable thing about that is one Mr. brandon Wood is no where to be seen on the list for any tool ????

also, BA has a nice feature on Terry Evans too this week.

Brian, maybe you missed this. Yes, I thought it odd that Brandon wasn't in the list, but then he's not having as good a season as a number of different prospects, probably most especially Hunter Pence. I think the real problem is that his star has gotten tarnished with his still-way-too-high strikeout rate.

Rob, i saw that - that's the Triple AAA - i still don't see the AA (?)

i can understand the lack of Wood, because maybe he doesn't have the best of any particular tool, but i am surprised - i'd expect his best chance would be for best power hitter - i think he has tons of TB this year, if not the most.

oh never mind, you are right - it's there, i tend to skip over Dodgers stuff, and the Southern League didn't register to me as a AA league.
