Randy Johnson's Not Dead Yet: Yankees 7, Angels 2
I was following this game on my Verizon phone, and sure enough, I let myself get too excited about the Angels' late-innings comeback to tie the game. With the Angels' bullpen in its currently depleted state, the expectation of expanded leads naturally comes up. But this time it was Lackey, who wasn't at his best facing the Yanks, who took the loss. Randy Johnson in twilight struck out five Angels, scattered eight hits, and even walked a man — the unlikely Chone Figgins. Among their nine hits, the Angels only got two doubles. Extra base hits, man, that's how to win.
