Maddux Happy In LA

An interesting article on Greg Maddux from the Chicago Tribune via the San Jose Mercury-News:
That July 31 trade from the Cubs to the Dodgers was very good for him.

"In every way," he said.

Better than he dreamed possible?

"Absolutely," he said, adding for emphasis, "absolutely."

When the Cubs asked Maddux if he would approve a trade, he said he was only lukewarm about it. When the Cubs approached him with the trade, he was only tepid.

How times have changed. He is scorching hot about it now.

"This has been great," he said. "It's great for my family, we've got a (beachfront home) close to Dodger Stadium, the kids like it out there, I like the ballclub, I like the atmosphere, I like my teammates, I like the coaches, I love the defense.

...

Colletti says he would like to re-sign Maddux, and Maddux said when he left Chicago he wouldn't rule out re-signing with the Cubs. That would be hard to believe now that he has had another taste of a pennant race and what seems like a nearly perfect baseball life.

He isn't saying.

"I want to play out this season, I want to get to the postseason and do well in postseason, I want to get to the World Series again, so it's not really time to worry about next year," he said.
