Minor League Scorebook

The Orem Owlz lost their final playoff game today, and so this marks the end of the Minor League Scorebook series until the Arizona Fall League commences. Hope you've enjoyed it.

Once more getting weirded out by the way MILB.com is handling their postseason games. Anyway, Idaho Falls grabbed a three-run lead in the top of the first on one swing of the bat by Jase Turner off Kenneth Herndon. Herndon pitched three scoreless innings, but then he walked leadoff batter Brett Bigler in the top of the fifth, and Kurt Mertins got aboard on a Tadd Brewer error. Herndon loaded the bases, and Marc Maddox doubled to drive in a pair, chasing Herndon.

Barret Browning replaced him, and he quickly got Turner to ground out, but after intentionally walking Christopher McConnell, reliever Pedro Herrera gave up a grand slam to Brenan Herrera. After loading up the bases again (including a hit batter), Herrera managed to get Joseph Dickerson to strike out. The six-run inning doomed the Owlz, who only managed to scratch out two runs in the bottom of the first, and one in the bottom of the eighth.

Comments:
Thanks for the MILB Scorebook. It's a great tool for keeping tabs on the farm.

What did you think was weird about the way MILB handled their postseason games?

The box scores and the schedules didn't align.
