Minor League Scorebook

2006-09-09: Tucson 10, Salt Lake 8 #
Murphy: 1-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Morales: 1-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI
McPherson: 2-5, 1 3B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Gorneault: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Eylward: 2-2
Rodriguez, S: 0-1
Smith, C: 2-4
Budde: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Davidson: (L, 0-1), 1.1 IP, 7 R, 6 ER, 6 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 40.50 ERA
Hensley: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 1.59 ERA
Gwyn: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 9.00 ERA
And... that's a wrap. Dan Davidson did what he usually does, i.e., give up runs in large quantities and get chased early, while Matt Hensley put up five goose eggs. Dallas McPherson and Kendry Morales both homered in the loss, which concludes the Bees' PCL postseason; the Sidewinders advance to the PCL championship series, starting Tuesday, playing the winner of the Round Rock/Nashville series.

This likely means that McPherson, Morales, and Mathis — the M Team, the "M" perhaps denoting "mediocre" — will now join the big club.

2006-09-09: Rancho Cucamonga did not play
2006-09-09: Cedar Rapids did not play
2006-09-09: Idaho Falls vs. Orem: Postponed: Rain #
The makeup game will be tomorrow at 4 pm EDT, but both contests — if a third game is necessary — will be nine innings long.

A little late, but here's a recap of yesterday's 6-2 Idaho Falls victory. Also, for those interested, the slackers running the PL finally decided to post their last notebook of the regular season.

2006-09-09: AZL Angels did not play
2006-09-09: Las Vegas did not play
2006-09-09: Jacksonville 0, Montgomery 2 #
Abreu: 1-4
Meadows: 2-4, 2 K
Hu, C: 1-3
Raglani: 0-3, 2 K
Nall: 8.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 8 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Alexander: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 0.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 27.00 ERA
T.J. Nall cruised through eight, but Mark Alexander gave up a two-run walkoff jack to former Dirtbag Evan Longoria to end the Suns' postseason with a sweep, and sending the Biscuits into the Southern League Championship Series. Mitch Talbot pitched a complete-game five-hitter. He carried a perfect game into the sixth, broken up by a one-out single by Chin-Lung Hu.
2006-09-09: Vero Beach did not play
2006-09-09: Columbus did not play
2006-09-09: Ogden did not play
2006-09-09: GCL Dodgers did not play

Comments:
The third "M" has been up since Sept. 1. Scioscia couldn't wait any longer to have three catchers.

What I get for not checking the roster before I make off-the-cuff comments like that.
