Teams Holding Their Fates In Their Own Hands

The Angels and Twins are the only two AL teams in second place in their divisions to still have their own fates in their hands, according to the current RIOT numbers. That is, if the Angels can win 22 of their remaining games, or the Twins win 24 of their remaining games, the Angels win their division. Similarly, the Mets (7), Cards (17), Astros (23), Dodgers (21), and Padres (22) all have their divisional fates in their own hands. Thanks to Bob Timmermann in today's Dodger Thoughts thread for pointing this out.

Comments:
Funny how the Pig who runs the RIOT site can post the new Blue Jays logo (updated 2004) but maintains the lame Disney Wing Logo for the Angels (last seen in 2001). But a Berkeley.edu site is like all trash in the Berkeley city limits: inherently living in the past.

I know... I thought that was pretty lame, too. OTOH, the Devil Rays, Rangers, Astros, Cardinals, Brewers and Padres aren't up to date, either.

Technically, all of the division leaders hold their fates in their own hands. The Twins and Angels would be the only two that are not division leaders that do.

When you say "22 of their remaining games," you mean "ALL 22 of their remaining games," I believe.
