More Baseball America League Talent Rankings

This time for the Cal League, with Nick Adenhart, Jose Arredondo, and Sean Rodriguez making the top 20; in the Florida State League, Scott Elbert and Blake DeWitt both made that league's top 20.

O-Cab at third? Now I've heard everything. Man, I hope those are the musings of the lame-brain writer and not those of the lame-brain front office.

Cabrera is a nice player and all, but shouldn't Stoneman put out the feelers on him this winter and see if anyone bites? This team has an awful lot of shortstops, Orlando makes the most money and really isn't anymore talented than the others.

Carlos -- I think you're on the money there, defensively, but I'm not so sure about offensively.

Well, looking at this past season, Cabrera had only 13 more walks than Izturis, with 255 more at bats. Cabrera is 31, Izturis 25. Izzy has also improved across the board each year in the majors, most impressively drawing more walks than strike outs (though just barely at 38:35). I know you aren't that high on the guy, and I can see his limitations as clearly as you can. But he is clearly a better option on top of the order than either Cabrera or Figgins and I'd much rather go into spring with him and Aybar fighting for the position, keeping it warm for Brandon Wood, than Orlando Cabrera who will likely post another .300 OBP after a flukey .335 season. That number isn't very impressive in the first place, and it was the second highest of his career.

If the Angels are going to trade a position player, they should trade one of their shortstops, a position where the team is very, very deep, both at the major league level and the minor league level.
