A's Injuries Add Up
- Oakland DH Mike Piazza left today's contest in Boston after he was tagged out by Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell. Lowell dove to make the play, and rolled over Piazza, who stayed on the ground for some time, then grabbed his shoulder and walked to the dugout. Piazza supposedly has been diagnosed with a sprained shoulder, but no word on who this came from. (Boston eventually won the game 6-4.)
Update: The A's expect Piazza will miss 4-6 weeks with a shoulder strain.
- Rotoworld and MLB.com both report that the A's have traded Ryan Langerhans to the Nationals for Chris Snelling, another injury-prone outfielder, who has spent most of his career with the Mariners.
