Bill Plaschke Does Something Unmentionable To Tommy Lasorda
That is, he's written a book about him. I don't know which is worse, Plaschke or the idea that Lasorda will get a biography by exactly the kind of writer liable to turn out a hagiography in single-sentence paragraphs. Thanks to DT commenter Beniah for the word.
Update: The boys at BTF have some fun with this:
Dear Editor—I am 8 years old, but even I wouldn't have traded a 22-year-old Pedro Martinez. Some of my little friends say there is no Tommy Lasorda veneer. Papa says, "If you see it in Bill Plaschke, it's so." (Papa hits the sauce pretty hard.) Please tell me the truth, is there a hilarious, overplayed blooper of Santa Claus tumbling backwards in the third base coach's box?
