Roster Notes
Sundry that are overdue...
- Howie Kendrick was assigned to AAA Salt Lake to start a rehab assignment tonight. I'll get to that presently in the minor league scorebook.
- Maicer Izturis was activated from the DL, and Matt Brown was sent back down to AAA Salt Lake to make room on the 25-man roster.
- Wilson Valdez was DFA'd in order to make room for Hong Chih Kuo, who joined the big club today.
- Wilson Betemit and Andy LaRoche are not in a strict platoon according to Grady Little.
- As the Angels found out earlier today, the Mariners activated Felix Hernandez. Arthur Rhodes was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Jason Davis, arriving as the side effect of an earlier trade. The M's optioned RHP Sean Green to AAA Tacoma.
- Brad Wilkerson left tonight's game against Tampa Bay early with a hamstring injury. Symmetrically, Rocco Baldelli also left the same game with a hamstring injury.
- Huston Street hit the DL with an ulnar nerve irritation, which sounds very like the injury that kept Brad Penny off the mound or ineffective for much of 2005, and Eric Gagne for almost all of 2006. Despite Justin Duchscherer nursing an arthritic hip, he was given closer duties by manager Bob Geren. He has so far not been used in tonight's game in which Alan Embree and Jay Witasick blew up to surrender the tying runs.
- Big night for injuries: J.D. Drew left the Tigers game after colliding with the outfield wall.
