Brazoban, Schmidt To Have Shoulder Surgery

Schmidt will undergo exploratory arthrosopic surgery Wednesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, seeking to find his disappearing fastball and repair the reason for it. Tests so far haven't been able to pinpoint specific damage, so Schmidt's return is dependent on what is found and what it takes to fix."At a cost of $47 million for a three-year free agent contract, more was expected of Schmidt", says Ken Gurnick in a masterstroke of understatement.
