Fee, Fi, Fo, Fump, I Think I Smell A Slump: Reds 5, Angels 3

Kelvim Escobar's 14 strikeouts sound great until you realize that he delivered the textbook definition of a quality start against the worst team in the worst division in the worst league in baseball. Call it (bad) luck, call it fate, but I'm catching the whiffs of a slump.

Graph created by and hosted on fangraphs.com.

Mike Napoli actually won the Goat of the Game, partly for the two runners he left in scoring position, though Orlando Cabrera's four outclassed him in that department, so there's something else I must be missing. Solo homers from Gary Matthews, Jr. and Casey Kotchman's went for naught, and the downside of stranding of baserunners (good that they're arriving, bad they're being left there) rolls around to stink up things.

Blah to Dustin Moseley.

Well, if two losses, twenty hits and nine runs in the past two games defines "slump", okay.

This must be a really, really good team, if more than one loss constitutes a slump.

No, more an omen than their present record. I keep thinking this isn't a 103-win team.

Don't worry, the Dodgers are right around the corner to help the Angels out of that slump.
