Minor League Scorebook

2007-06-10: Portland 3, Salt Lake 7 #
Izturis: 1-5
Evans: 3-4, 1 HR, 4 RBI
Wood: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Morales: 1-4, 1 RBI
Gorneault: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Budde: 2-4
Liriano: 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 5.92 ERA
Shell: (W, 3-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 4.37 ERA
Terry Evans' three-run jack in the seventh won the game, and he also stole a base and drove in another with an RBI single in the third. Maicer Izturis singled in his rehab assignment.

Steven Shell swiped the win in relief.

2007-06-10: Springfield 4, Arkansas 3 #
Morrissey: 1-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Sandoval, F: 1-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 K
Wilson: 3-3, 3 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Collins: 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
Diaz: 8.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 3 BB, 3.12 ERA
Hunter: (BS, 1)(L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 9.00 ERA
Christopher Hunter took the loss and a blown save in his second appearance with the Travs after being called up from Rancho. Amalio Diaz was yet again a tough-luck loser, receiving a no-decision for eight solid innings of two-run work; recall his nine shutout innings on May 30 for which his offense was unable to get him a lead. So far, he's done well in the Texas League, posting three quality starts (and then some) and only one game in which he was chased early, his June 5 start.
2007-06-10: Rancho Cucamonga 3, Lancaster 4 #
Coon: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K
Statia: 1-4
Mosebach: (L, 6-4), 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 3.76 ERA
2007-06-10: Cedar Rapids 0, Quad Cities 2 #
Trumbo: 0-4
Smith: 2-3
Veras: (L, 0-1), 5.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 2.25 ERA
Madrigal: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 3.42 ERA
Vladimir Veras' first decision since being recalled from extended spring training, and his first loss; he faced Tyler Herron, who, along with reliever Brad Furnish, four-hit the Kernels. That put an end to Mark Trumbo's seven-game hitting streak, and Wilberto Ortiz's six-game streak.
2007-06-10: Orem did not play
2007-06-10: AZL Angels did not play
2007-06-10: Fresno 8, Las Vegas 7 #
Valdez: 3-6, 1 2B, 1 K
Ruan: 2-6, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Young: 3-6, 3 RBI, 2 K
LaRoche: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Freeman: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Huckaby: 0-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Hoorelbeke: 0-1, 1 K
Hoorelbeke: (L, 1-3) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 5.63 ERA
Spike Lundberg gave up seven runs, all earned, yet his offense got him off the hook for his misdeed; instead, Casey Hoorelbeke somehow magically became the villain in this game. Baseball is funny.

Good offensive performances by Delwyn Young and Choo Freeman, with Freeman driving in three.

2007-06-10: Chattanooga 8, Jacksonville 2 #
Hu, C: 0-4, 1 BB
Paul: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Dunlap: 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Raglani: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K
Ellis: 3-4
Ojeda: (L, 1-4), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 5.19 ERA
Miller: 0.0 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 4 BB, -- ERA
Alexander: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 5.64 ERA
Wright: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.00 ERA
Greg Miller did even worse than his last game at Las Vegas. Converted to relief earlier in the year, he replaced starter Alvis Ojeda in the top of the seventh, and gave up five runs, four earned, on four walks, a hit, and a wild pitch; Mark Alexander, having struggles of his own, inherited a men on second and third situation and promptly re-loaded the bases with nobody out. A pair of sac flies brought home both of Miller's baserunners, compounded by a Xavier Paul fielding error that allowed Enrique Cruz to reach.

Anthony Raglani homered in the loss, a leadoff solo shot in the bottom of the 2nd.

2007-06-10: Modesto 9, Inland Empire 10 #
Hunt: 2-4, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Dewitt: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K
May: 2-4, 1 RBI
Hoffmann: 2-3, 2 RBI, 1 K
De Jesus: 0-1
Arias, M: 2.0 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 5.85 ERA
Pratt: 4.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 4.78 ERA
Wade: (W, 7-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 2.17 ERA
Wilson: (S, 4), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.64 ERA
A wild one in which starter Marlon Arias didn't last but two innings, so a relay race of relievers came in to save the day; win-vulture Cory Wade picked up his seventh victory in relief despite giving up two runs, both earned, thanks to a Modesto implosion in the bottom of the eighth that included a bases-loaded walk to Ryan Rogowski and a two RBI Bridger Hunt single.
2007-06-10: Fort Wayne 5, Great Lakes 8 #
Berezay: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Gonzalez: 1-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Perez: 4-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Bell: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Santana: 0-3
Castillo: 6.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 4 BB, 1 HR, 5.79 ERA
Sanfler: (BS, 1)(W, 2-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 4.93 ERA
Miguel Sanfler got a blown save for giving up three runs in the top of the eighth, but his offense got those back and more in the bottom half of the frame in a wild eighth that saw Ft. Wayne manager Doug Dascenzo ejected from the game; Wizards pitching gave up three doubles, a single, and a walk in the frame. Eduardo Perez's two-RBI double capped scoring and made him 4-for-4 on the day.

We made it to the 66ers-Nuts game yesterday -- a lot of fun, with back and forth rallies. I should have some pix and a story up on Trolley Dodger later.

Minor league ball is a lot of fun if you can get to the games. Hell, I've even been known to go to a few college games.
