2007-06-23: Sacramento 4, Salt Lake 6 #
Gorneault: 0-4, 1 K
Wood: 3-4, 2 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Evans: 2-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Budde: 2-4
Mathis: 1-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI
Shell: 4.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.94 ERA
Wilhite, M: (W, 3-2) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2.66 ERA
Jones: (S, 2), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 4.50 ERA
Both Salt Lake and visiting Sacramento scored in four separate innings, but Salt Lake put up a pair of crooked numbers in the first and seventh, and thus the difference in the game. Two of those came on back-to-back two-out jacks by Brandon Wood and Terry Evans in the first. Wood later doubled in Curtis Pride to collect his second RBI of the game. Wood's been heating up of late, hitting .312/.391/.636 in June, with five home runs. Terry Evans went 2-for-3 with an intentional pass in the fifth that didn't work out when Mike Eylward walked, but then it did when Ryan Budde flied out to end the inning.

Starter Steven Shell didn't last past the fourth, so Matt Wilhite got the win in relief, pitching three scoreless innings of relief.

2007-06-23: Wichita 2, Arkansas 10 #
Morrissey: 3-5, 1 K
Rodriguez, S: 2-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Porter: 3-4, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 1 BB
Wilson: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Collins: 1-4, 1 BB
Thompson: 3.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 2.23 ERA
Hunter: (W, 3-1) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 1.80 ERA
A real thumping of last years' nemeses, the Wranglers, and the Travs' best offensive game of the year. Sean Rodriguez homered, went 2-for-3, and walked twice out of the three hole, while Adam Morrissey went 3-for-5 in leadoff and scored a pair of runs.

Nominal reliever Rich Thompson got the start, possibly because of a chain reaction promotion due to Joe Saunders' callup from Salt Lake, and gave up only one run over three innings. Chris Hunter got the win in relief.

The Travs reported a 6,737 attendance at Saturday's game, and have now surpassed their entire 2006 season attendance at Ray Winder Field with a cumulative 214,235. The team might even be able to break their single-season attendance record of 296,428, set in 1989.

2007-06-23: Stockton 2, Rancho Cucamonga 4 #
Coon: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Statia: 3-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Butcher: (W, 5-5), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 2.15 ERA
Arredondo: (S, 1), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 23.63 ERA
In which Jose Arredondo finally settles down and pitches a scoreless frame since his demotion to Rancho. Good. Otherwise, Hainley Statio went 3-for-3 with two RBIs providing half of Rancho's offense, and Brok Butcher continued his low-strikeout, low-walk highwire act.
2007-06-23: Cedar Rapids 8, Burlington 0 (7 innings) #
Ortiz, W: 3-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 BB, 2 K
Mount: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Johnson: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Haynes: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 3.62 ERA
Browning: (W, 4-2) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 3.62 ERA
Madrigal: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3.52 ERA
Visiting Cedar Rapids squished Burlington with a five-hit shutout in seven innings, with Jeremy Haynes starting for three innings, and Barret Browning getting the win in relief. Warner Madrigal pitched two scoreless innings, in the 8th and 9th.

Wilberto Ortiz, who's having a blazing hot June with a .329/.338/.514 line, drove in three runs from the leadoff spot. Mark Trumbo also seems to be improving in June (.320/.366/.493) with two homers.

2007-06-23: Cedar Rapids 2, Burlington 3 #
Trumbo: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Phillips: 0-4, 2 K
Herndon: 7.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 3.43 ERA
Cassevah: (L, 1-1) (in relief), 1.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.09 ERA
Bobby Cassevah lost this one by giving up the tying run in the ninth, and then left the game with men on second and third in favor of Blake Holler, who gave up a walkoff single to Matthew Morizio.

Mark Trumbo notched his seventh multi-hit game this month, and drove in the Kernels' first run in the top of the first.

2007-06-23: Orem 4, Idaho Falls 5 (17 innings) #
Estrella: 2-7, 1 BB, 1 K
Garcia: 3-5, 1 2B
Brossman: 4-8, 2 RBI
Gonzalez-Lopez: 2-7, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Fish: 4.1 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 8 K, 1 BB, 4.76 ERA
Hurst: 2.2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 2.25 ERA
Dinga: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
West: (BS, 1), 3.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 1.50 ERA
Lindsey: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.70 ERA
A real marathon started off by southpaw Robert Fish, who only made one start last year with the AZL Angels and didn't survive five in this one. Dylan Lindsey plunked Rubi Koko in the bottom of the 17th and gave up a double to Michael Bionde to take the loss. Zach Evangelho entered the game as a pinch-runner in the 12th for the Chukars, took over at third base in the 13th, relieved in the 15th — and got the win. That's versatility!

Jay Brossman went 4-for-8 and drove in half the Owlz' runs by himself.

2007-06-23: AZL Mariners 10, AZL Angels 12 (11 innings) #
Castillo: 0-6, 4 K
Ortiz, N: 5-5, 3 2B, 1 BB

Colmenares: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 K
Perez, D: 0-1, 4 BB
Speier: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Rosario, An: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Coello: (BS, 1), 2.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 9.00 ERA
Page: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Well, look at this: Justin Speier pitched a scoreless inning, starting off the game. Four other Angels managed scoreless innings, including Angel Rosario, Alexander Torres, Mason Tobin, and Cory Page, who won it in relief.

Carlos Colmenares won this game with a walkoff three-run blast in the bottom of the 11th. Norberto Ortiz returns for his second dose of AZL, and went 5-for-5 in his first game, and Alberto Rosario went 4-for-5.

2007-06-23: Las Vegas 2, Fresno 9 #
Young: 3-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K

Huckaby: 2-4
Pinango: (L, 2-3), 3.2 IP, 7 R, 4 ER, 8 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 3.86 ERA
Delwyn Young's solo homer and 3-for-5 night was the limit of the fun for the 51's as Fresno's Chris Begg notched his seventh win of the season, stifling Las Vegas for only two runs on seven hits. The 51's took their fourth loss in five games.
2007-06-23: Carolina 2, Jacksonville 5 #
Paul: 0-4, 3 K
Hu, C: 0-4, 1 K

Meloan: (S, 14), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2.25 ERA
Justin Orenduff picked up a win and Mark Alexander got a hold despite allowing a run. Jonathan Meloan picked up his 14th save.

Former Trojan Alberto Concepcion, Jr. went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two more RBIs besides; he's hitting .303/.370/.576 in June, with five home runs. The victory was the Suns' 12th straight, and puts them within four of tying the Southern League record.

2007-06-23: Inland Empire 3, Lake Elsinore 8 #
Dewitt: 4-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI
Guerra: (L, 4-3), 5.1 IP, 7 R, 6 ER, 6 H, 7 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 4.28 ERA
Rodriguez, J: 1.2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 6.75 ERA
Blake Dewitt's 4-for-4 night with two RBIs wasn't enough to offset problems with the starting pitching from Javy Guerra, who gave up seven of Lake Elsinore's eight runs.
2007-06-23: South Bend 3, Great Lakes 2 #
Perez: 2-4, 2 K
Bell: 1-4, 2 K

Gomez de Segura: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 9.53 ERA
Another dominating performance from Clayton Kershaw, only to have it undone by Matthew Gomez de Segura. Juan Apodaca homered, his fourth of the year, a leadoff shot in the bottom of the fifth.
