Rumors And Roster Notes
- From Baseball Prospectus, the Angels are once again considering trading Chone Figgins for a bigger bat. Good thing he's heated up.
- Troy Percival is said to be favoring Detroit in his quest to rejoin the majors, having signed with that team once already.
- The Dodgers are among the teams alleged to have interest in a midseason trade for Texas slugger Mark Teixeira. So are the Angels, but I doubt they pull the trigger on such a deal, especially not with a division rival.
- With Mark Kotsay returning from back surgery, it's likely that the cooling Jack Cust will lose significant playing time.
- Sammy Sosa says his season so far has rejuvenated him to the point he wants to play another five years. He's got a .245/.306/.468 line and oddly hasn't benefited much from the Texas hittery, with seven of his ten home runs coming on the road.
- The Padres have put Brian Giles on the DL, and he will probably spend a month there with his bruised knee.
- "Reports say [Adrian Beltre's thumb injury is] minor, but there's some whispers that this is similar to the Chipper Jones injury," according to Will Carroll.
- I somehow missed that Dave Roberts went down for Tommy John surgery, but apparently he's close to being back in action, though the throwing part of his game remains to be recovered.
