Pickoff Moves
Tim Brown On Vlad
What does Vlad want to be remembered for?"I want to be remembered as a good teammate," he said. "That's the most important thing for me. Numbers, I can't point to anything I want to do. Continue to produce. The fans, I want them to remember how I played. Not necessarily what I did, but when I took the field, when I played right field, and when I ran around the bases. No numbers. Just a picture of how I played."It's a sweet piece. Every day he gets closer to Cooperstown, and might be the Angels' first legitimate contender for the Hall. It's also a reminder that the Times let go of the wrong man when they kept Plaschke and Brown left.
Roster Notes
- Casey Kotchman will return to the lineup batting sixth in today's game thanks to the recent productivity of the Angels' Willits-Figgins-Cabrera-Guerrero lineup.
- Bartolo Colon got a boost of confidence prior to Sunday's game thanks to a phone call from former teammate Manny Ramirez. (It probably didn't hurt that he was pitching against the Pirates, the second-worst offense in the National League.)
- Rotoworld speculates that Gary Matthews, Jr. will return to his starting job in center field today.
- The Dodgers signed Matt Wallach, son of Tim Wallach; Wallach was a 22nd-round pick.
- The Rangers have moved Vicente Padilla to the 15-day DL, thus making even more of a mess of their pitching staff.
