Ten, Thanks To Vlad: Angels 6, Reds 3

Lackey posted that minimal requirement for a "good job" by a pitcher, the quality start, and Vlad provided the offense after breaking out of a mini-slump. That combination propelled John Lackey to the status of first pitcher in the majors to get to ten wins, something that will no doubt figure in the Cy Young voting if this keeps up.

Chone Figgins continued his late hot streak, going 2-for-4, and scoring a pair of runs, while Cabrera went 3-for-4 and scored three. GA also had a good night, going 2-for-4 and driving in a run; it's good to see him productive.

The Eastern Sports Propaganda Network has taken notice of the Angels' late hot streak, and briefly previews tomorrow's game. It looks like a blowout against, with Bartolo Colon facing Homer Bailey, one of the top young pitching prospects in the game. Colon has left pitches up when he isn't working, which is often, and as we all know, even when his shoulder is working right, his velocity at the start of the game isn't as good as it is at the end. And, Bart is nothing if not all about velocity.

With Oakland hammering Houston 7-3 and the Cubbies getting a stellar performance from Shawn Marshall to defeat the Mariners 3-2, the Angels go to 41-25 and maintain a four-game lead over the M's in the West, with Oakland five games back. The Rangers now have the worst record in baseball at 23-42 after a humiliating 8-1 thumping by Pittsburgh, with Bucs' starter Ian Snell delivering a complete game on seven strikeouts.
