When Z Comes To Shove

Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano got into a shoving match with his catcher, Michael Barrett today after big Z gave up five runs, all earned, in the fifth inning of a game the Cubs are currently losing 8-1 to Atlanta. Former Dodger catching prospect Koyie Hill, just called up from AAA Iowa, took his spot behind the dish. You can maybe understand why when you look at Zambrano's splits between the Cubs' two catchers, Barrett and Henry Blanco: with Blanco, Z delivers a .254/.301/.444 line, but that balloons to .284/.409/.515 with Barrett.

Barrett: 18 RC
Blanco: 3 RC

Barrett makes up for it with his bat. Doesn't help Z's stats, but that's not Barrett's nor the Cubs' problem.
