News
- As expected, "fringe player" Jeff Kennard (a guy with a "pulse and a fastball") was assigned to AA Arkansas.
- I should mention Steven Smith's recent posts about the Arizona League relating games on Friday and Saturday. Hank Conger, Peter Bourjos, and Ryan Mount were all back in the lineup on Saturday on rehab stints from their respective injuries. He's also got an interview (RealPlayer required) with recent draftee Jon Bachanov. Apparently, the Devil Rays scout told Bachanov that the team intended to take him with the first pick of the second round, but Bachanov got wind of this from a Devil Rays scout, and told Tom Kotchman. (The Angels drafted Bachanov with their first-round supplemental round pick.)
- I somehow missed this when Justin Speier was called up, but Chris Resop was placed on the 15-day DL to make room for him. He's expected to make a rehab appearance some time this week.
- Howie Kendrick will undergo additional X-rays on his broken left finger.
- Takashi Saito's pain is
going down, though, yipes:
"It's similar to what I felt when I had herniated disks, so I'm thinking it could be related to that," Saito said.

Rich Thompson is having a nice little stretch of effectiveness, going three straight games (and 6.2 innings) without having given up an earned run, and having only surrendered one in his brief tenure at Salt Lake.
