Bonilla gave up homers to Rockies' former starting shortstop Clint Barmes and LF Joe Gaetti. Rich Thompson got his third victory with an overpowering five-strikeout performance in two innings of work.

The Travs filleted Dan Christensen to the tune of nine runs, all earned, over 3.1 innings, with Ben Johnson, Freddy Sandoval, Michael Collins, and Sean Rodriguez all clouting homers off the hapless Wranglers starter, who finished the day 3-13 with a 6.12 ERA.

Rancho sported a big 7-1 lead after five-run sixth, but the bullpen lost it for the Quakes. Doug Brandt pitched a fine game as an emergency starter (he hadn't started in over a month, his last one being July 15), tossing five innings of one-hit ball while striking out seven.
Jeff Larue homered in the loss, a two-run shot in the sixth.

Mendoza: (W, 2-4), 6.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 4.30 ERA
Cedar Rapids cruised to a victory in this one as they scored in each of the first four innings in the first game of a makeup doubleheader. Hank Conger snapped a five-game hitless slump since his return from the DL, and Peter Bourjos homered, a solo shot in the fourth.
Tommy Mendoza tossed a quality start, his third in his last four tries.

Arredondo: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 3.52 ERA
Both sides scored one run in the first and that's where it stayed until the game went into extras, and Stantrel Smith ripped a walkoff homer in the bottom of the eighth. Amalio Diaz got the emergency start and a no-decision for his troubles, pitching 5.2 innings with no earned runs (the one run in the first came on a passed ball by Hank Conger).

Pollok: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 5.16 ERA
Homers by Marshall McDougall and John Lindsey weren't enough to help Vegas overcome bad pitching, as the Sidewinders trounced the 51's. Both sides mirrored each other for the first five innings, putting up a box score of 3-0-1-4-1 on both sides. Vegas went ahead in the sixth on RBI singles by John Lindsey and Chad Moeller, but then the Sidewinders roared back with a seven-run seventh in which just about everything went wrong.
Brian Akin walked Matt Erickson to load the bases with nobody out to start off things, and then the 51's brought in reliever Chris Fussell. He gave up a single and hit two consecutive batters to cough up three before surrendering a two-run double to Robby Hammock; Hammock eventually scored on Ronnie Merrill, Jr.'s RBI double, with the last run of the inning coming on Rich Thompson's fielder's choice.
Dewitt: 3-4, 1 BB
Dunlap: 0-2, 1 RBI
Tomlin: 2-3

Troncoso: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 2.93 ERA
Blake Dewitt's 3-for-4 night highlighted a one-sided game that kept building as the Suns stomped Mississippi. Wesley Wright got the win in relief as Alvis Ojeda, making only his second start since his demotion to the bulpen on July 20, only went four innings. Mark Alexander got his second hold, earning his fourth straight game in which he has not been scored upon since his disastrous August 11 six-run, 1.0 IP outing.
Hoffmann: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Bell: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Guerra: (L, 6-8), 2.2 IP, 9 R, 8 ER, 11 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 3 HR, 5.94 ERA

Santana: 0-3
Coleman: (L, 2-5), 8.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.73 ERA
Completed early due to rain in the top of the ninth, and you can tell by the two fielding errors in that frame alone.
Bert: 2-5, 1 RBI, 2 K
Silverio: 2-5, 1 RBI, 2 K
Collado: 1-3, 2 BB
Orr: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K

Rondon: (W, 7-2), 6.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 H, 10 K, 1 BB, 2.77 ERA
Daigoro Rondon's quality start with an impressive 10 whiffs was definitely the highlight of the game, along with Amauri Guzman's 4-for-4 night that included an 8th-inning solo homer.
