One-Half Game: Yankees 5, Red Sox 0
The Yankees swept the Red Sox behind Chien-Ming Wang's shutout, held up by Joba Chamberlain and Edwar Ramirez. Curt Schilling pitched well enough but was missing velocity, as his heater topped out at about 88. The Bosox offense was also punchless, but of more relevance to the Angels, on an off day the 79-54 Halos advanced to within a half game of the 80-54 Red Sox for the bragging-rights title of best record in the majors.
