Over? Nothing's Over Until ...: Cardinals 12, Dodgers 2
Troy Percival finished the game out for the Redbirds; for those curious, he hasn't surrendered an earned run in six games. He's got something in the tank; too bad the Dodgers don't. Their chances of winning the division, according to Baseball Prospectus ($), is about 16%, only a percentage point ahead of the Rockies. It's beginning to look awfully bleak for the Dodgers.
Update: The comment by baseballfiend was so blatantly absurd it required a response in the post itself. Yes, it was team construction that's caused these problems. Take a look at the Dodgers' injury list if you don't believe me: Randy Wolf, Hong-Chi Kuo, Chin-Hui Tsao, Jason Schmidt, all injury magnets, and this isn't a flaw of construction? That's like complaining you didn't know your bull would have deleterious effects on the china shop! The only place where you might have an argument is Rafael Furcal's spring training collision (something Jon brings up in his "How Did We Get Here?" post today), because that's lingered and caused him to have an awful season. We hope. Also, presumably Derek Lowe's hip, while it hasn't put him on the DL, has caused a couple of bad starts at least. But there's far more damage by design than by accident.
