Dodgers, M's, Padres Could Play Exhibition Games In China
I was going to say what a lousy idea this was when I thought it was the season opener, but if it's just spring training exhibition games, maybe not.The games would be played during the second week of March, two baseball officials familiar with the planning said Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the trip was still in the planning stages.Wait, I take that back — it is a lousy idea. The first week of spring, and then back to Florida?

Roster Notes
- Vlad apparently has no timetable to return to right field, but the Angels are hopeful he'll be patrolling there before the postseason starts.
- When they start talking about Delwyn Young's chess game in the papers, you know (a) the season's winding down, and (b) the Dodgers aren't going anywhere.
- Former Dodger closer Eric Gagne has a 9.00 ERA with the Red Sox. Nonetheless, Terry Francona is determined to stay with him. Gagne has apparently abandoned his changeup and is getting knocked around as a result. (My speculation would be that he doesn't have enough oomph on his speedball to set up his circle change, but that's just me.) Terry, tell you what: the Angels will be happy to let him work out his problems in the ALDS.
- Former A's ace Mark Mulder is having a second shoulder labrum surgery. Unloading Mulder and Tim Hudson just as they were about to get both bad and expensive, for anything at all of value, has to rank right up there in Billy Beane's resume.

Comments:
Hudson has been pretty damn good. Beane was fleeced on that one...
I would consider the Mulder and Hudson trades as a wash.

Hudson was terrible and injured last year. He's been pretty good this year (130 ERA+), but I'd call that close to a wash. He still has a couple years on his deal with Atlanta, IIRC.
