Gammons: Marlins Open To Cabrera Trade
Peter Gammons says the Marlins are open to a deal for 3B Miguel Cabrera. If this is true, the Angels need to go after him, and hard. That is a much better deal than one expensive A-Rod. (Hat tip: cupie.)
Labels: angels, marlins, trades
Comments:
Cabrera doesn't excite me as much as A-Rod. If I'm an opposing pitcher, I still pitch around Vlad to get to Cabrera, Anderson, et al. He's played his entire career in the AAAA National League, he's becoming frighteningly overweight, and I believe headed for an injury plagued future and quick flameout.
Yes, he is now fat.
Anyways, it's not the Angels M.O. Why trade talent when you can sign someone without giving up some...?

According to John Dewan's recently released 2007 +/- rankings, Miggy Carbrea is a truly awful third baseman. Incidentally, Kotchman and Kendrick rank among the leaders at their resepctive positions, Gary Matthews the worst at his (although I don't know how much faith one should have in Dewan's method).
