Mariners DFA Brad Wilkerson, Call Up Jeff Clement, Wladimir Balentien
The Mariners designated OF Brad Wilkerson and pinch hitter Greg Norton for assignment, and have ten days to trade, demote to the minors, or release either. In their stead, the M's are calling up former catching prospect Jeff Clement and outfielder Wladimir Balentien. Clement was previously blocked when Bill Bavasi extended starting catcher Kenji Johjima an additional three years, through 2011. (Also via AP.)
